The Backstory
For My Sisters was founded following a true story of human generosity:
When a friend was caught off guard with a surprise period – during an intense day at work – she scrambled to the office toilets to see how desperate the situation was. She needed a hygiene product immediately and didn’t have a spare with her.
Luckily, there in the bathroom cupboard, she found a pack of tampons with a sticky-note attached. It simply said ‘for my sisters’.
That small act of kindness saved the day, avoided embarrassment, and allowed her to confidently go back to conquering the day. Fact is, we’ve all been there – and most of the time we weren’t that lucky.
We knew then that women needed this small, but valuable, support to enable their success.
Meet the Team
Megan Harrison
FOUNDER & DIRECTOR
Megan brings over 15 years’ experience in the health, safety and sanitisation industry – both as former Health and Hygiene Advisor for Sandfire Resources, as well as Founding Director of leading sanitisation company: SanSafe. Her involvement in public health initiatives includes advisory services on developing anddelivering complex industrial training and assessment programs; as well as designing protocols, policies and budgets. Megan holds a bachelor’s degree in Sports Science and Nutrition, a post-graduate diploma in Health Promotion, and a Masters of Occupational Hygiene and Toxicology.
Sylvia Defendi
COMMUNICATIONS ADVISOR
Sylvia is a proven business communicator with over 15 years’ experience across Australia, North America, and Africa. As Founding Director of Defendi Communications, she has strategically positioned a range of operations, from boutique start-ups through to multinational mining and engineering service providers. Sylvia’s expertise span competitive tender writing and strategic submission management; communications audits; as well as the creation of clear, accessible and engaging content that delivers on growth goals.
Maria Wilson
BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT & CUSTOMER SERVICE LEAD
Maria has been successfully selling quality products for over 25 years. As a previous Sales Rep for Initial Hygiene, Maria has brokered deals within the infant care, pharmaceutical, and sanitisation industries. As Business Development Manager for SanSafe, Maria has been instrumental in instigating sales within the mining sector, leading to the company’s significant market growth.
